Was driving me batty that FF was always starting maximized and every new window was also maximized. It took a bit of searching, but eventually I found the right key words that led me here.
The trick noted in the last post of the thread worked, much to my disbelief.

I use Evernote exclusively these days because it crosses the Windows and Mac platforms so well. The mobile version on my phone is even useful. The text recognition is quite nice. Great software for free free free!
