Best 3 hour hike I know of.
From Rainy Lake parking lot, take paved trail towards Rainy Lake. After maybe 1.4 mile, just after crossing stream, take right hand (non-paved) trail upwards. Follow all the way up to ridgeline, then head right (west) along ridgeline before dropping back down. Up on the ridgeline there are a number of different trails which wander off - just stick the the main trail and you should be good.
Quoted: A moderate loop hike with plenty to see, and it’s right off Highway 20. The routes winds around above pretty Lake Ann, and visits impressive views from passes above. Finish the trip with a spectacular descent of the ridge between two lakes.

Just launched by WTA -- a map database of storm-damaged trails in Washington. Tough winter, look at all those red dots.
Quoted: Washington Trails Association is a membership-driven trail advocacy non-profit organization. We run one of the largest volunteer trail maintenance programs in the country, publish a monthly magazine and are politically active on both the state and national level providing hikers with a voice in defending our hiking trails. Our website includes hiking trip reports, an online magazine, a photo gallery and an online hiking guide.

The entire Pasayten Wilderness has been closed due to the
Tripod and Tatoosh WildfiresThe Tripod Fire is aggressively burning the eastern portion of the Wilderness in the Horseshoe Basin, and reached the Chewuch and Tungsten Rivers on September 4th. The Tatoosh Fire is burning the western portion of the Wilderness, in the Pasayten River and Lost River drainages. Extreme fire behavior is pushing the fire towards the Pacific Crest Trail, and farther into Canada.

For our vacation, Karin and I went to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike. We spent 4 days wandering the backcountry near Bear Lake and the last day went up Long's Peak. Saw a moose (who seemed more interested in out sweaty t-shirts than us), lots of Elk, some Bighorn sheep, and Karin saw a marten. Great park, but outrageously crowded. After the hike, we went to the Estes Park YMCA for a family reunion.
