Are the terrorists the ones who will destroy our way of life? Or is it the over-reaction to terrorists leading to such a severe curtailment of, well, everything, that is going to destroy our way of life?
Quoted: Chaplains in federal prisons have been quietly carrying out a systematic purge of religious books and materials.

ChrisWei | Shared With: Everyone - Sep 28 2006 | history, books, indiansAn excellent book. A 'revisionist' history about American Indians, both South and North. It provides an easy to read and well-written summary of the latest archaelogical findings. The overall theme could be described as 'before 1492, there were a LOT more Indians, living in much bigger cities, with much richer cultures, than we ever realized before". But the details are fascinating. Highly recommended.

A public experiment that was better in theory than in practice: "In the end, the restrooms, installed in early 2004, had become so filthy, so overrun with drug abusers and prostitutes, that although use was free of charge, even some of the city’s most destitute people refused to step inside them."
