    The New York branch of Madame Tussaud’s, the famous wax museum, is celebrating India’s Independence Day in its own way – unveiling its latest attraction on August 15. Who’s joining the list of glittering stars on display at the museum in Times Square?Bollywood heartthrob Aishwarya Rai, who’s on loan from Madame Tussaud’s London, for six weeks. She’s the first Indian showbiz celebrity to be displayed at this museum. It took three days for the New York staff to get her wax figure ready for display after it was shipped from London…as finishing touches are applied a day before the unveiling, the museum has already heard from eager fans in the US.Director of Marketing, Madame Tussaud’s New York, Rosemary A Preta told CNBC-TV18, "Very exciting. We’ve already started to hear back from fans who are very anxious to see Aishwarya Rai, knowing that she is only here for a limited time. So, they want to come within the next couple of weeks just to make sure they get a glimpse of Ms Rai herself."Mahatma Gandhi has been the only Indian figure on display until now at Madame Tussaud’s New York. The museum expects to add to its Indian collection after seeing the enthusiastic response to the Aishwarya Rai display. Flashbulbs popped, and Bollywood dancers swayed as the latest attraction at Madame Tussauds was unveiled. Aishwarya Rai, dressed in a costume from her film 'Bride and Prejudice'.

    Aishwarya Rai, who has just returned from Agra with her family, donated a C-Arm Image Intensifier to K K Bhabha Hospital, Bandra, on her birthday.Our source reveals, “Aishwarya has been actively involved with the treatment of poor at Bhabha Hospital for years now. When she learnt that the hospital authorities needed a C-Arm Image Intensifier because the previous one was too old, Aishwarya got them a new one.”Our source says that Ash took personal interest in the kind of intensifier that the doctors required. He says, “Aishwarya saw to it that the machine had apt technical features that was required by the doctors.”When contacted, Hari Singh, Ash's business manager confirmed the news saying, “It is true that Ash donated a C-Arm Image Intensifier machine to Bhabha hospital on her birthday.” Hari Singh also said that Ash has been actively involved with Bhabha Hospital making donations for the treatment of the poor. Singh said, “For patients who cannot afford expensive treatments, Bhabha Hospital is a boon. It is good that we have such a hospital in city to give prompt treatment without bothering about the money.”
