An excerpt from Solid Ground, WritersCorps most recent publication. Jelly was one of my students, but at age 8, 9, 10 she was already 'slangin' words like a master. She wrote about things that we (unfortunately) might witness on any random day in Visitacion Valley. She also wrote about cartwheels and double dutch.I'm looking forward to catching up with her and the rest of the gang this fall.

SFAC houses a number of programs. I work with WritersCorps. BTW - I'm leaving my current position, Program Associate, to return to the field as a WritersCorps teacher this fall. It was good to learn what makes the big city arts machine go, but my heart is with working with SF youth and their communities. Applications for the PA position close today, but it still might be worth a shot.
Finally, click on the WritersCorps link and it will take you to our website which gives a lot more information about the work we do with young people, publishing, events production etc.Quoted: San Francisco Arts Commission's Community Arts and Education program supports cultural arts activities and arts education in San Francisco's diverse communities.

The SFAC website is also a good mainline into just about every art program, institution etc. in the city of SF. You'll find links to everything from museums to community arts programs, public art and more.
