Mainstream Web Watch: InfiniteHoops.com - ReadWriteWeb

Richard MacManus over on ReadWriteWeb wrote about InfiniteHoops. Awesome!

Quoted: Last week we started a new series called Mainstream Web Watch, in which we'll be exploring how the Social Web is infiltrating mainstream culture. We started out with NBA.com last week, to celebrate the end of the basketball season and the crowning of a new champion (Boston Celtics). In this post we look at another mainstream basketball site, but this time a small niche site created by someone with a passion for the sport - InfiniteHoops.com.

    March Madness: Seattle's sports startups

Hey! InfiniteHoops gets its first mention on John Cook's Venture Blog. Awesome!

Quoted: Tosh Meston, who runs the InfiniteHoops site, where basketball players can find local pick up games, didn't have a good reason for the activity. The Seattle programmer at Faves.com created InfiniteHoops because he and his friends simply wanted an easy way to know who would be showing up for games. The site now has about 3,000 members and 600 groups.

Find Basketball Games, Find Players with InfiniteHoops.com

I have released a new version of my pickup sports sites -- InfiniteHoops.com, InfiniteSoccer.com & InfiniteSoftball.com. This is a full UI rewrite. I did some work with the business objects (caching, consistency, cleanup) as well, but the table structure is mostly the same. Well, there are some new tables to support the new stuff.

I am using Google's maps, Yahoo's calendar, Microsoft's servers and languages, and Amazon's AWS is coming soon.

This took four months (1 month of day and night, and 3 months of nights). It's really nice to have it out there. Now I can sleep.
