Quoted: A team of 17 researchers at the J. Craig Venter Institute has created the largest man-made DNA structure by synthesizing and assembling the 582,970 base pair genome of a bacterium, Mycoplasma genitalium JCVI-1.0. This work is the second of three key steps toward the team's goal of creating a fully synthetic organism. In the next step, the team will attempt to create a living bacterial cell based entirely on the synthetically made genome.

Awwww, that's Cinnamon there to the left.
Quoted: The domestic cat genome has now been sequenced. The genome was of a 4-year-old Abyssinian cat named Cinnamon, who has a well-documented lineage that can be traced back several generations to Sweden. Cinnamon is one of several mammals that are currently being analyzed using "light" (two-fold) genome sequence coverage.

My latest blog post...
1 FaverViewed: 3 TimesQuoted: Seattle Newcomer Examiner - I'm feeling a little homesick. No one's flipped me the bird, tried to run me over, or openly rolled their eyes at me in a while. It's not that New Yorkers are rude - they're just more familiar (you know, total strangers sharing their medical histories and major failures).
