Lets take a look at the negatives surrounding the Lions' nine draft picks:
Quoted: (1) Cherilus is more of a developmental prospect in our opinion... (2) you wouldn't think he could be an NFL linebacker; he lacks ideal size, doesn't have great range and can be a liability in man coverage... (3) Smith can dance in the backfield too much and he's a little bit of an upright runner, so he takes some big hits... (4) he doesn't have great size or the frame to get substantially bigger. He also has to learn to shed blocks quicker... (5) Avril doesn't have great size and plays with a narrow base, so he has problems holding his ground when teams run at him... (6) Moore is an undersized receiver who doesn't have great top-end speed... (7) Felton isn't a dominant lead blocker and will not put linebackers on their backs. He isn't an explosive open-field runner either... (8) The biggest knock on him is that he's vastly undersized for the interior defensive line, which could mean that teams will have success running at him... (9) There are some durability concerns, though, due to a knee injury. Does not change direction adequately.
This season is going to be *totally* different than last season.

Maybe the Roger Goodell era isn't so bad after all.
Quoted: FOX and ESPN are reporting this morning that the Packers have stepped up efforts to trade Favre after being ordered by the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to resolve the quarterback's status, preferably by the time training camp opens Sunday. ESPN's Chris Mortensen says Goodell has told Green Bay that Favre will be reinstated as an active player once he makes that widely anticipated request. Citing unnamed NFL sources, Mortensen says the commissioner has spoken with Favre and told him he's willing to assist his return.

The Packers should grant a conditional release, so that he has to go to a team in the NFC. That way when he throws that back breaking playoff INT they'll have a chance to benefit from it for once.
Quoted: Three days after a conference call with Packers officials on Tuesday in which Brett Favre emphatically expressed his desire to play in 2008, Favre on Friday formally asked for his contractual release.

This Christian news site uses word substitution to filter its news stories. One such filter is to change the word "gay" to "homosexual". After Tyson Gay's performance at this weekend's Olympic track and field trials, hilarity ensued.
Quoted: Tyson Homosexual easily won his semifinal for the 100 meters at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials and seemed to save something for the final later Sunday. His wind-aided 9.85 seconds was a fairly cut-and-dry performance compared to what happened a day earlier. On Saturday, Homosexual misjudged the finish in his opening heat and had to scramble to finish fourth, then in his quarterfinal a couple of hours later, ran 9.77 to break the American record that had stood since 1999.

This is the story Javon Walker is allegedly telling in regards to his recent robbery:
Quoted: “I was just back at my room and at about 5:30 in the morning I got a knock at the door. I opened it and 3 guys with guns were there. They cracked me in the head a few times, knocking me unconscious. They then robbed me of everything I had; my watch, money, everything! Somehow they got me to a car and dropped me off in the street. That’s what happened.”
The name of his hotel? The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Somehow nobody saw any of this?

When I watch the replay (http://soccervisions.blogspot.com/2008/06/holland-vs-italy.html) I am absolutely convinced that this was the right call. Panucci was not involved in the play, but plays like this are exactly the reason FIFA changed the rule to say that players must be officially sent off by the referee in order to count as inactive for the purpose of offsides.
I will admit to having a bias against Italy, but it seems clear to me that Panucci made no effort to recover from a relatively minor collision with his own keeper, in hopes that it would result in the Dutch being called offside. Its the Italian way.
Quoted: Premier League referees chief Keith Hackett says Ruud van Nistelrooy's controversial opening goal for the Netherlands against Italy was legitimate.

Playoff hockey. Serious business.
Quoted: You can buy an octopus this week at Wholey's Fish Market in Pittsburgh -- unless you're wearing Detroit Red Wings gear..."I have the utmost respect for all the people of Detroit," Wholey said, according to the report. "They are great citizens and great hockey fans, just like I am. But I'm a Penguins fan first and foremost and I want to see the Penguins win, period." If that means checking ID and listening for customers with Midwestern accents, that's what he's willing to do.

That sounds like a sweet deal. Where do I submit my application?
Quoted: Move over Bud Selig, the Florida House is considering whether to create a baseball commissioner. In HB 7111, which is nearing passage, a state baseball commissioner would protect Florida's spring training sites for the ol' ball game. It's part of an economic development package. Rep. Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, said the $100,000-a-year baseball commissioner would be hired to keep and recruit teams to Florida. The Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians plan to relocate to Arizona, and the Baltimore Orioles are weighing whether to stay in Fort Lauderdale.

You must be Ba's friend before you can comment on this Fave. But Ba, you've forgotten that all of these guys are GAMERS! They have INTANGIBLES! They play the RIGHT WAY! One of them is in the ARMY! HEROES! Some of them might grow BUSHY MUSTACHES - real MAN stuff!
The Lions will be like that '99 soccer team that took on the tall gazelle-like Catholics in the state championship and won with their out-sized Christian hearts! You of all people should recognize this. What we lack in size we will make up for with WILL TO WIN! Talent matters not! Lions '09! Moral victory will be ours!
Matt Millen finally drove me insane...
Yet some people are giving the Lions a B-/B for a draft grade. I don't get it. I think they filled the right positions, but chose the wrong players. Maybe this will be the year people stop showing up to the stadium.
