David Mayo writes a mea culpa for the front page of the GR Press one week ago. I was reminded to dot this because Sunday's (July 12th) GR Press was loaded with conservative West Michigan residents bitching about how this signifies the end times.

Were you high when you picked out this suit?
Quoted: I have learned I am not physically addicted to anything but am predisposed to all manner of mental addictions, dating to childhood. I skipped first grade because I was reading on a ninth-grade level. But I knew nothing more about math or science than any other 6-year-old. I was just addicted to language...

Couldn't Darius Miles or the NBAPA file a countersuit for collusion? I mean I understand that he probably wouldn't want to because he is getting paid the $18 million regardless, but it doesn't seem like the Blazers have any grounds for following through with this threat.
Quoted: The e-mail, addressed to NBA team presidents and general managers, states that if Darius Miles plays in two more games this season, the remaining $18 million on his contract will be owed by the Blazers.

Taking the Red River Rivalry one step further...
Quoted: Carolyn Beck, a spokeswoman for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, said that under state law, if a vendor sells an alcoholic beverage to someone under 21, the vendor has not violated the law if the person buying the alcohol presented what appeared to be valid Texas identification. That same protection does not apply if the purchaser presented out-of-state identification, leading to reluctance on the part of some vendors to sell to anyone showing out-of-state identification, Beck said.

You must be Ba's friend before you can comment on this Fave.I didn't expect to, but I mostly liked the column.
I'm surprised he got his job back, though, and disappointed I'm missing all the complaining. This should go on longer than the debate about Bush and Calvin, since he's going to be there reminding people every week.
I can't wait to see how he or they handle the next sports/drugs stories. Or really the backlash the first time he is critical of someone that is popular. Remember that Brandon Inge/Grand Rapids Griffins article prior to the 2008 season? That wouldn't go over so well this time around.
I don't know that article - got a link or a brief summary?

Basically before the '08 season when Leyland approached Inge about moving to catcher, Inge wasn't really cool with it, maybe asked for a trade. Well right around that time he had an autograph appearance at a Griffins game. But he only signed autographs. He didn't talk to media. and Mayo ripped him big time for that. At the time a lot of people thought it harsh but technically still in bounds. Today I don't think they give Mayo the benefit of the doubt.
