MICHIGAN COACHING SEARCH: STRIKE IT RICH: West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez accepts Wolverines job

Good news. I hope he can adapt his spread option to a pass-heavy variety for the next couple of years so as to preserve the career of Ryan Mallett. I think like many Michigan fans, at the very least I am just happy to see some radical change in the program.

Quoted: West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez, who met with U-M president Mary Sue Coleman and athletic director Bill Martin on Friday in Toledo, has accepted the Michigan coaching job, replacing retiring coach Lloyd Carr. Associate athletic director Bruce Madej confirmed to a Free Press report this afternoon that Rodriguez would be the Wolverines' 17th football coach. U-M has scheduled a news conference for 9 a.m. Monday on campus.

MICHIGAN-MICHIGAN STATE: Dantonio to U-M: 'It's not over'; Hart's words sting Spartans

Drew, its not like Dantonio handled this with any class either.

Quoted: Then a reporter asked Dantonio about Mike Hart's postgame comments in which he referred to MSU as the "little brother" of U-M. "Does Hart have a little brother or is he the little brother?" Dantonio asked. "I don't know, he's ... that tall." Dantonio placed his hand to his chest to illustrate Hart's stature.

The Denver Post - Plummer's handball odyssey

Quoted: Jake Plummer could be on an NFL practice field today. He could be running sprints, throwing in 7-on-7 drills and listening to a coach bark in his ear after an overthrown fade route. But instead he is in California, playing a sport unknown to most Americans. Seven-plus months after his surprising early retirement, the 32-year-old former Broncos quarterback has found happiness on a handball court....Plummer says handball is his sport of choice and he "will be playing this until I die."

The article goes on to say that he and his brother are currently competing in the US Open of handball, and that they lost their first match in straight sets... but presumably not before racking up tons of garbage points and making the final score appear much closer than it actually was.

Perhaps you missed it yesterday, but Nike Football has another great commercial running during NFL broadcasts. If I had it my way, Magua would do a voiceover during the Merriman half of the clip and say:

"When the Patriot is dead, Magua will eat his heart. Before he dies, Magua will put his fan base under the knife, so the Patriot will know this season's Super Bowl dream is wiped out forever."

Quoted: Shawn Merriman and Steven Jackson. Directed by Michael Mann

Rocky Mountain News - KRIEGER: Here's a record that's not good to break

Move over Steve Garvey and Shawn Kemp.

Quoted: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Saturday that court documents in a Georgia child support case show that Broncos running back Travis Henry has fathered nine children by nine women across four southern states. Nine. A baseball team.

My guess is that the only thing fake about this is probably the logo on the ball lining up right down the center of the frame as it screams towards the camera.

Quoted: Wayne Rooney features in the latest Nike Football video, showing off the Total 90 laser. He marks out his aim on the camera and then ...
