* SBIN stands for "system binaries" (as separate from /BIN, I suppose to save you trouble if you're rebuilding the boot system using 'ed'...)

I always have a copy of Ubuntu around. It's a great tool to take control of my laptop when I get frustrated with mysterious system lockups and just have to get something done. Reboot into the CD and my old laptop feels like new again.
