Negroponte on Intel's $100 laptop pullout

A great interview with Negroponte, skewering Intel after their pullout from the OLPC board. Bottom line: Intel was going to OLPC's customers and telling them the OLPC didn't work - a secret Intel knew because they were on the OLPC BOD. Hideous.

Quoted: On Thursday Intel announced it was dropping out of the non-profit One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) organization, which was set up to develop and market a low-cost - ideally $100 or less - education-focused laptop for the poorest children in the world. The device, called XO, is now in production in Taiwan and in use in a number of countries. Fortune's David Kirkpatrick spoke Friday with Nicholas Negroponte, founder and chairman of OLPC. A transcript is below.

Intel vs OLPC, Intel is developing their 2nd generation

Wow! I just got finished reading about Via's new 1.9 lb. $600 Win Laptop, here's Intel & Asus with 1/3 the cost. Powerful (relatively), light, cheap hardware is in development on many fronts!
