    CNN.com - New 'Batman' names its Joker - Aug 1, 2006

I liked the latest Batman movie, but Heath Ledger as the Joker? Wha?

Quoted: Batman is heading into a sequel, titled "The Dark Knight," and he will face off against the Joker, this time played by Heath Ledger.

I hope it's based on the comic "The Dark Knight Returns." It's one of my favorites of all time...

      Huh? Jack Nicholson, anybody?

    • eric - Aug 01 2006

Doesn't Heath Ledger look JUST like a young Jack Nicholson? Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk...

The worst Bond movie theme songs of all time. They are all very bad. I was really looking forward to the upcoming Bond movie, but I think the excruciatingly bad Chris Cornell theme song has soured it for me.

For some reason, this site cracks me up. It's a list of movie reviews made by some fundamentalist Christian organization. Movies are rated based on their level of Wanton violence, Impudence/hate, Sexual immorality, Drugs/alcohol, Offense to God, and Murder/suicide (WISDOM, get it?).

While I see the value in knowing the level of violence in a movie before taking your kids to see it, these guys take it to a ridiculous new level. I can just see these guys busily scribbling on their notepads in the theater, chalking up a tally mark everytime a character says "the most foul of foul words" (which I'm reasonably sure is "fuck," but a quick search of the Bible provides no clarification on this point).

    Fantastic Four (2005)

Oh my God, this movie is terrible. In fact, it's worse than terrible. It's like a perfect storm, where a cold front of tired motion picture cliches meets a steaming cloud of pure shit. It features an atrocious script, shockingly bad acting, story elements that just don't make sense, cookie-cutter character types, and lame, fake-looking special effects. It's not even good if you're into the whole cheesiness factor thing. And the worst part is that instead of wrapping this abomination up tidily at the end, they left it open to a sequel, something I find to be completely unacceptable. I need closure; I need to know that such crap will not be forced onto the moviegoing public ever again!

Please, for your own health and well-being, avoid this film.

Note: I would have created this Dot from the DVD's page on Amazon, but I don't want Amazon's recommendation engine to think I'm completely retarded.

Amazon.com: Why We Fight (2005): DVD

I watched this last week. Definitely one of the most amazing, most eye-opening documentaries I've seen in a long time. It illustrates how the military-industrial-political complex is now so ingrained in our society that it completely dominates our foreign policy. It also demonstrates how prescient Ike Eisenhower was in his farewell speech to the nation, where he warned us that such a day would come.

Considering the subject matter, the documentary is very fair, using representatives from all sides of the political--and human--spectrum, including a New Yorker who lost his son in the Towers, John McCain, Gore Vidal, PNAC chief asshole Bill Kristol, Eisenhower's son and granddaughter, and many more.

This movie, quite simply, should be required viewing for all Americans.

Daniel Craig confirmed for second 007 outing | The Register

A "darker and edgier 007"? The new Bond movies might actually, you know, not suck.

Quoted: Producer Barbara Broccoli also praised the sixth Bond for "portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and edgier 007".

    Good!

Quoted: Sanitizing movies on DVD or VHS tape violates federal copyright laws, and several companies that scrub films must turn over their inventory to Hollywood studios, an appeals judge ruled.
