Quoted: The Bush administration has decided not to take any new steps to regulate greenhouse gas emissions before the president leaves office, despite pressure from the Supreme Court and broad accord among senior federal officials that new regulation is appropriate now.
Quoted: To defer compliance with the Supreme Court's demand, the White House has walked a tortured policy path, editing its officials' congressional testimony, refusing to read documents prepared by career employees and approved by top appointees, requesting changes in computer models to lower estimates of the benefits of curbing carbon dioxide, and pushing narrowly drafted legislation on fuel-economy standards that officials said was meant to sap public interest in wider regulatory action

Quoted: Attorney Stephen Susman helped file a groundbreaking lawsuit earlier this year on behalf of 400 Inupiat villagers in the Alaskan town of Kivalina who are being forced to relocate because of flooding caused by global warming. The suit accuses twenty oil, gas and electric companies, including ExxonMobil, Chevron, BP, ConocoPhillips and Peabody, of being responsible for emitting millions of tons of greenhouse gases causing the Arctic ice to melt.

That's not what they got. In another case of the White House censoring what the public learns about climate change, the administration cut her testimony in half.

Letterman's become a real politico lately... Aside from this video, he's made some serious jabs at McCain's campaign. FYI, Obama is on his show tonight!
1 FaverViewed: 9 TimesQuoted: "We are dead meat," said David Letterman last night in the midst of a lengthy rant on global warming. He blamed a lack of leadership over the last several decades. He also said he didn't think that little steps like reusing party toothpicks or turning lawn clippings into mulch could possibly help.

When I need to set persistent environment variables in Windows, I tend to want to gouge my eyes out ... right click "my computer", "properties", "advanced", "environment variables", ... and have you tried editing $PATH in that tiny edit box?!
Fortunately, I just discovered a utility called "setx.exe" which can do this from a command line (ahhhhh). You can also edit HKCU\Environment directly, if you don't feel like jumping through these ridiculous validation hoops. Yes, it's rather sad that manually editing the registry is easier than using a tool designed for editing environment variables.
