Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress last week and in some of the opposition the president has faced since taking office. "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American," Carter told "NBC Nightly News."- CNN.com

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>obama,health,politics</dc:subject>

Why the Left can't stand Sarah Palin and can't bear to see her go

OPINION - The truth is liberals are furious they won't have Sarah Palin to kick around anymore – at least not with Palin's hands tied behind her back by her public office. The peculiarly venomous hatred of Palin is driven by women of the left and their whipped consorts. All that needs to happen is for a feminist to overhear two Nation readers saying, "I hate to admit it, but Palin is kind of hot." Democrats are a party of women, and nothing drives them off their gourds like a beautiful Christian conservative. (How much money has that other beautiful born-again, Carrie Prejean, been forced to spend on lawyers to respond to liberal hysteria?) - WORLD NET DAILY

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>palin,opinion,politics</dc:subject>

Bureaucratic spamming hampered Palin governorship

OPINION - People close to Sarah Palin say national political reporters and pundits have missed the real reasons for her surprising decision to resign as Alaska governor. "Attacks inside Alaska and largely invisible to the national media had paralyzed her administration," someone close to the governor told me. "She was fully aware she would be branded a 'quitter.' She did not want to disappoint her constituents, but she was no longer able to do the job she had been elected to do." Since Ms. Palin returned to Alaska after the 2008 campaign, her office has been targeted for investigation by everyone from the FBI to the Alaska legislature. Family considerations also played a role. Everyone in the family was weary of endless personal attacks, including mean-spirited suggestions on liberal blogs that all of her children should have been aborted and that she would run on a presidential platform promoting retardation. - WALL STREET JOURNAL

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>news,palin,politics,opinion</dc:subject>

Politicians Are People, Too

OPINION - I have that thought today because of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's announcement that she is resigning. I have no idea if she is, as NPR's Politics blog so nicely headlines it, "Retreating Or Reloading." Politicians are human. If you prick them, they will bleed. If you pet them, they'll lick your hand. They're filled with anxieties, contradictions and duplicities, but I wonder what groups, including journalists, salespeople, hammer dulcimer makers or Franciscan priests, are not. - NPR.org

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>politics,opinion,sarah palin</dc:subject>

Val Kilmer considers run for NM governor in 2010

Fresh from the inauguration, actor Val Kilmer is pondering running for governor in 2010, when two-term Democrat Bill Richardson will be forced from office by term limits. - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>news,politics</dc:subject>

Michael Steele becomes first black RNC chairman

Michael Steele was elected Republican National Committee chairman on Frida.
