OPINION - Last year, before the election, some of us predicted that if (or when) Barack Obama became president that this would happen. We said that every time his policies met with opposition the left would start screaming racism. So what happened when we said that this would happen? Well ... you guessed it. We were called racists. You just can't imagine how surprised and shocked we were. It would be OK if a white president stood back and allowed Iran to build its coveted nukes ... we're only unhappy about that because a black president is doing it. Every single member of the president's cabinet could be a tax cheat as far as we're concerned ... just so long as the president is white. - BOORTZ.com

OPINION - The truth is liberals are furious they won't have Sarah Palin to kick around anymore – at least not with Palin's hands tied behind her back by her public office. The peculiarly venomous hatred of Palin is driven by women of the left and their whipped consorts. All that needs to happen is for a feminist to overhear two Nation readers saying, "I hate to admit it, but Palin is kind of hot." Democrats are a party of women, and nothing drives them off their gourds like a beautiful Christian conservative. (How much money has that other beautiful born-again, Carrie Prejean, been forced to spend on lawyers to respond to liberal hysteria?) - WORLD NET DAILY

OPINION - People close to Sarah Palin say national political reporters and pundits have missed the real reasons for her surprising decision to resign as Alaska governor. "Attacks inside Alaska and largely invisible to the national media had paralyzed her administration," someone close to the governor told me. "She was fully aware she would be branded a 'quitter.' She did not want to disappoint her constituents, but she was no longer able to do the job she had been elected to do." Since Ms. Palin returned to Alaska after the 2008 campaign, her office has been targeted for investigation by everyone from the FBI to the Alaska legislature. Family considerations also played a role. Everyone in the family was weary of endless personal attacks, including mean-spirited suggestions on liberal blogs that all of her children should have been aborted and that she would run on a presidential platform promoting retardation. - WALL STREET JOURNAL

OPINION - I have that thought today because of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's announcement that she is resigning. I have no idea if she is, as NPR's Politics blog so nicely headlines it, "Retreating Or Reloading." Politicians are human. If you prick them, they will bleed. If you pet them, they'll lick your hand. They're filled with anxieties, contradictions and duplicities, but I wonder what groups, including journalists, salespeople, hammer dulcimer makers or Franciscan priests, are not. - NPR.org

OPINION - The murder of Dr. George Tiller is tragic in a number of ways, beginning with a life created by God that was misspent on the destruction of life. The incredible irony of where he was slain cannot be lost: the most notorious abortionist in America was gunned down at a church where Tiller "had attended … for a long time." I have to ask the question that is one which strikes at the heart of much of our spiritual, social, moral and political condition today. What was he being taught in this church? Tiller was obviously comfortable in this church, and it is evident that the pastoral leadership was comfortable with him. - WORLD NET DAILY

ANALYSIS: A London-based Arabic newspaper has published what it claims are details Obama's of the new peace plan. If the revelations prove accurate, they reveal a U.S. administration as yet unacquainted with several basic facts of life concerning politics and strategy in the Middle East. - JERUSALEM POST

OPINION - A few days ago, the House passed the Orwellian-sounding ‘Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act’ which provides for the introduction of mandatory national service (unspecified) for all young people. This is one of many signs that Obama is assembling a permanent force from among the American public to act as a potential means of subverting the American Constitution. - SPECTATOR.co.uk

The naysayers complain, oh, it’s another Jimmy Carter, or it’s the new New Deal, or it’s LBJ’s Great Society applied to health care… You should be so lucky. Forget these parochial nickel’n’dime comparisons. It’s all those multiplied a gazillionfold and nuclearized – or Europeanized, which is less dramatic but ultimately more lethal. - STEYNONLINE.com

OPINION - Mexico is a young democracy that eliminated an essentially one-party political system, controlled by the Institutional Revolutionary Party, that lasted more than 70 years. Mexico has demonstrated an institutional continuity unique in Latin America. Our national institutions function. Thanks to all this, Mexico has demonstrated an impressive capacity to overcome crises, of which we’ve had our fair share. - NY TIMES.com

OPINION - Israel Today alleges that President Obama "is about to break America's long ties of friendship with Israel, and maybe even take steps toward the dissolution of the Jewish state." If true, America is in even more serious trouble than even the most pessimistic assessment can reflect. If America betrays Israel, then America is rejecting the Word of Israel's God. - WORLD NET DAILY
