My geotagging trials, travails and triumphs

I've experienced the pain, and struggled with making things like zoom-factor deterministic. Eg, what's the lowest zoom level where you can map things so it's still relevent at higher zoom levels?

Quoted: Adding location data to images is a pain right now, but geotagging is worth it, and it'll get easier.

Quoted: Casual snapshooters, though, should steer clear of geotagging for now. Not only do you need some kind of GPS receiver, you also need some software to add the location metadata to the photo files. For me, that process was fraught with peril. Web sites that can use the location technology also are fairly immature.

    I can relate...

Quoted: Thanks to cheap and easy-to-use recording devices — digital cameras, camcorders, camera phones — today’s kids are forming the most documented generation ever, as parents, relatives and friends capture forever the first, second and hundredth smile. The challenge will come in managing all the data and making sure they get migrated and cared for along the way.
