I've experienced the pain, and struggled with making things like zoom-factor deterministic. Eg, what's the lowest zoom level where you can map things so it's still relevent at higher zoom levels?

Quoted: Casual snapshooters, though, should steer clear of geotagging for now. Not only do you need some kind of GPS receiver, you also need some software to add the location metadata to the photo files. For me, that process was fraught with peril. Web sites that can use the location technology also are fairly immature.
