Jack Zduriencik continues to get high marks from me. He definitely seems to have a plan.
Quoted: The idea is that the team will receive video of their opponents and have workers in the new department break down each pitch from a statistical viewpoint. They can grade the break on curve balls, tendencies to throw certain pitches in certain situations, figure out what hitters like to swing at, that sort of thing.

Quoted: This whole situation with expecting value back for Washburn is absurd on so many levels. The Mariners are like a guy who got suckered into a timeshare presentation in Mexico, and spent $20,000 on a one week per year one-bedroom condo with $1000 per year in fees. Now the guy is trying to find someone in his office who will buy it from him for $10,000 - half price, he tells them - but the reality is that he's lucky if he can simply find someone who will take that albatross off his hands for nothing. He still thinks this is something valuable because, after all, he paid $20,000 for it, didn't he?

Byrd is looking a lot sketchier here as well. These writers are the Game of Shadows authors, so they're fairly authoritative.
Quoted: The same dentist prescribed growth hormone to Paul Byrd, the Cleveland Indians pitcher previously identified by The Chronicle as buying nearly $25,000 worth of growth hormone through the same anti-aging clinic.

Quoted: Great qualities as a leader = He lets me do whatever I want. Asking Ibanez if he likes McLaren is like asking the eight year old who is eating chocolate cake for dinner and playing video games til midnight if he likes his babysitter.

Quoted: On behalf of the Mariner blogosphere, here’s the internet version of a standing ovation. Way to not give in to the pressure to make a bad move. We appreciate it.
