CE Pro § Kaleidescape Prevails in DVD Ripping Case

Excellent -- although it's still depressing that a company had to spend years in court to protect their right to innovate. What's especially interesting is a product in such a high end niche will probably be amongst the first to get to pure Internet distribution. They won the battle, but it matters less than it did when it started.

Quoted: Kaleidescape argued, first and foremost, that nothing in the DVD CCA licensing agreement prohibits the development of products that allow users to copy their DVDs.

A free (virtual) version of XP + IE6 for testing. Finally, a supported way of doing this.

Quoted: Many of you have asked how to run IE6 and IE7 in a side by side environment. As Chris Wilson blogged about early this year, it’s unfortunately not so easy to do. There are workarounds, but they are unsupported and don’t necessarily work the same way as

    CSS: Under Construction

People accuse the W3C standards process of being slow ... well, here you can see that's just not the case.

For example, the CSS (3) Backgrounds and Borders specification is still a "working draft", the same state it was in 2001-09-24. (!!!).

5 years to figure out how to round corners? Really?

Preliminary support for CSS3 columns is in Firefox 1.5 -- hadn't realized this until I stumbled across a blog using it.

Quoted: Two CSS properties control whether and how many columns will appear: -moz-column-count and -moz-column-width.

The Daily WTF - No Line Breaks? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

This pattern pretty much alleviates the need for CSS ...
