Dana Milbank - Unleashed, Palin Makes a Pit Bull Look Tame - washingtonpost.com

It's beyond desperation at this point.

Quoted: Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

Quoted: "Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

FiveThirtyEight.com: Electoral Projections Done Right: Why Voters Thought Obama Won

I think the Obama camp would have been happy with a split here, but looks like the opening section on the economy tipped it. I wonder if McCain's original goal with the campaign suspension was to delay the foreign policy debate enough that the economic section would be omitted.

Quoted: The CBS poll of undecideds has more confirmatory detail. Obama went from a +18 on "understanding your needs and problems" before the debate to a +56 (!) afterward. And he went from a -9 on "prepared to be president" to a +21.

WaMu Walks Away From Mortgage on Downtown Headquarters | The Naked Loon

Quoted: “We used a zero-down option-ARM loan to finance the purchase of WaMu Center in 2006, and since our rate adjusted earlier this year, our payments have nearly doubled,” said CEO Kerry Killinger. “We had no idea that it would skyrocket like that.”

Why Obama's Health Plan Is Better - WSJ.com

Quoted: Given the current inefficiencies in our system, the impact of the Obama plan will be profound. Besides the $2,500 savings in medical costs for the typical family, according to our research annual business-sector costs will fall by about $140 billion. Our figures suggest that decreasing employer costs by this amount will result in the expansion of employer-provided health insurance to 10 million previously uninsured people.

    Editorial - Gov. Palin’s Worldview - Editorial - NYTimes.com

Quoted: The interviews made clear why Americans should worry about Ms. Palin’s thin résumé and lack of experience. Consider her befuddlement when Mr. Gibson referred to President Bush’s “doctrine” and her remark about having insight into Russia because she can see it from her state.

Quoted: But that is not what troubled us most about her remarks — and, remember, if they were scripted, that just means that they reflect Mr. McCain’s views all the more closely. Rather, it was the sense that thoughtfulness, knowledge and experience are handicaps for a president in a world populated by Al Qaeda terrorists, a rising China, epidemics of AIDS, poverty and fratricidal war in the developing world and deep economic distress at home.

    Op-Ed Columnist - What the Palin Pick Says - Op-Ed - NYTimes.com

Quoted: The Sarah Palin pick allows John McCain to run the way he wants to — not as the old goat running against the upstart, but as the crusader for virtue against the forces of selfishness.
