Finished this a few days ago -- it's Freakonomics for baseball fans. I thought it was excellent. It answered interesting questions, and the economic methods were explained well for those of us with no schooling on the topic. He should have probably made at least a primitive attempt to include fielding in his player value assessments, but its forgivable. Somebody else will.

Finished this last night -- was the first time I'd read it (this was a diary of the 1969 MLB season). It was very interesting ... baseball was a very different game in some ways (players needed part time jobs in the offseason since their salaries were so small, this was before free agency), and sadly similar in others (players routinely popped "greenies" for an edge).
This version of the book is worthwhile, as it contains 3 decades worth of updates from the author post-Ball Four, including an absolutely crushing account of his daughter's death. After well over 500 pages, you get to know the family a bit ... that section was a very tough read.
