Qasim Basir is a young filmmaker living in New York City who has been inspired by Barack Obama. In an article on The Huffington Post, Qasim wrote that, “He has inspired me, a usually self-motivated individual, to try to be a better person overall. I sometimes find myself in situations where I have a choice to do my best or just get by. And something in me refers back to something Obama may have said about making this country better. Then I realize that if I can do better in all of my endeavors and we all do the same as a collective nation, this place can actually get better.”
Qasim has produced a a film series entitled The Inspiration of Barack: “Yes We Can” Film Series, which he refers to as “Seven American Stories of Hope.” Each of the short films is about different people who, in the face of suffering and hardships in their lives, were inspired by Obama to confront their hardships and take an essential step forward.
This article presents stunning photographs, as well as a remarkable, very touching video from Qasim's new film series: “Yes We Can-Vote.”

As major news organizations all across the country are becoming increasingly critical of Senator McCain for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another one. However, by featuring Paris Hilton and Britney Spears in an attack ad against Barack Obama, the Arizona senator has risked charges of silliness in his latest attempt to draw attention to his frequently overshadowed campaign.
A former adviser to McCain's campaign has described the ad as childish, adding that, "There is legitimate mockery of a political campaign now, and it isn't at Obama's. For McCain's sake, this tomfoolery needs to stop."
In some ways the strategy has backfired on McCain, as his celebrity attack ad has ended up becoming a source of inspiration for a number of very funny, satirical parodies.
The article includes photographs and four videos (Obama's rebuttal in Cedar Rapids, Ohio; his new television ad, The Low Road; and two satirical parodies of the McCain ad).
