Hemp Bliss Hemp Milk, Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods & Oils - Healthy, Green Reviews - SustainLane

I'm going vegan! I don't have any real good reason to do it, other than the fact that I've never done it. So, why not?

Seyi said it'll be something to do for Lent. But I'm not Catholic! "So what," she said. "Good point", I reflected, "After all, I celebrate Christmas."

"Ok, I'll go vegan for Lent. Why not?" I replied, excited.

    Um... when's Lent?

Ash Wednesday to Palm Sunday. For 2008 that's February 6th - March 16th.

That's perfect! St Patrick's day is March 17th. I can break my vegan stint with a frothy pint of Guinness.

That's hysterical. And Guiness is oh so good.

I had always been conflicted about this.

Quoted: Well, new research from the University of Wales (academic citation, Guardian article) suggests that in general, the food miles are actually a minor portion of the total ecological footprint of food. In the study of a basket of foods in Cardiff, transport amounted to only 2% of the total environmental cost. Growing conditions, packaging and processing made up the bulk of the impact. In fact, a separate article in the same journal shows that local food systems actually have slightly higher carbon emissions!

Mighty O - vegan, organic donuts

Even though it is only about 15 blocks from my apartment, I had never been to Mighty O until this afternoon, when I checked it out with Andy Zimpfer and Jason Radel.

The donuts are all vegan and organic, and they are super good. I don't eat donuts often enough to know how non-organic and non-vegan donuts taste like, but Jason and Andy liked them too, so I'm not just testifying with my tree-hugging oatmeal palate.

They have free wifi, and Zoka Coffee is right across the street, whose free wifi you can also use. The only down thing about this place is it closes pretty early at 5PM.
