Kabir, Takohachi and Maneki (on 6th and Main, just around the corner from Takohachi) are really authentic Japanese.
Takohachi has more ramen (noodle) dishes, and Maneki has really traditional Japanese menus, including sushi. Really cheap too.

Wow, literally a couple streets down from me (I'm on 45th and 1st).
Too bad I don't eat meat. I'll just try the catfish and bread pudding.
It also opens late, perfect for after climbing!
