I checked Slate for the first time in years today and was delighted to find photos of the Danube, allowing me to continue my nostalgic Budapest dotting.
Quick reminder: If you're ever in a hotel lobby and they start to play 'The Blue Danube Waltz,' get the hell out...that waltz means that they need to evacuate the building

comments made my afternoon, despite my concerns about seay.
Quoted: The Detroit Tigers added lefty reliever Clay Rapada to their active roster, perhaps hinting that Bobby Seay's shoulder injury could be serious. Or it might just be a precautionary measure.

My friends in the puppeteering community were thrilled by this. I like it too. That's a shipping container he's sitting on.
Quoted: The remarkable French marionette street theatre Royal de Lux unveiled their latest creations this past weekend. As the highlight of the Estuary 2009 Arts Festival in Nantes, the theater drew a gigantic crowd to view a gigantic fairytale.

Yum. We've got a lot of burgers to try. This is the only one I've had.
Quoted: The one-third-pound ground round burger is a signature of this clubby, upscale bar in the Pointes. They come thick and very juicy, cooked just as you ordered and great plain or loaded up with ingredients. They're "the best of the best," reader Christina Olofsson wrote from Troy.

This is amazing. Get lost in Detroit without any fears at all.
Quoted: See the virtual map that displays photo galleries, videos and panoramas on certain points of the Google map. The assignment was extreme, even a little preposterous: a 4-month, 2,700-mile odyssey through Detroit's 2,100 or so streets. From downtown to 8 Mile -- and all points in between -- we took a street-level survey of all 138 square miles to bring you a unique view of the Motor City.

You must be Drew's friend before you can comment on this Fave.I have that waltz on my ipod.
Having just reminded myself/listened to the Blue Danube Waltz on YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTqlLKBKFhg&feature=related] it doesn't sound all that urgent. Were you chased out of a building? I want to hear the story that goes with that warning.
Is Slate still ironically hip-contrarian?
Cool
The evacuation line is stolen from Chuck Palahniuk. And yes, Slate is still lame.
