This kid did the intros last night at the game we went to - looks like it was his fourth time. Dice is back to 6th man, so no word on whether he still hits Al-a-biggity-bama with the same early high note. The girl who came out as Sheed did great leading the team in dance with the real Sheed cheering her on.

Quoted: Each year, the Detroit Pistons make kids the stars for Kids Opening Night. Check out highlights of past Kids Opening Nights and find out more at Pistons.com

Chauncey Billups opens up | Detroit Bad Boys

Very tough stuff to read. The mixed feelings continue.

Quoted: No, Billups saved the good stuff for the local guys, opening up to Michael Rosenberg of the Detroit Free Press in a way that will likely put a knot in the stomach of every Pistons fan who reads his column, starting with the opening paragraph:

...Listens to His Head...Follows His Heart - ESPN The Magazine

I haven't read the whole article yet - looks like typical DisneySports fare - but I love the subject matter. SLAM also has a profile out. Go Sheed, Go Stones.

Quoted: Even an opposing coach, Stan Van Gundy, agrees. "He's extremely smart, ahead of every play. He doesn't miss helps or rotations. He knows when it's time to shoot and time to pass. I've never understood why he isn't a perennial All-Star."

    ESPN.com - NBA - Fine-worthy rebuke in order

This is the stupidest sports column I've read in a long while. Particularly by a national writer - if it had appeared in the Plain Dealer it would be slightly more understandable. "We're a no-excuse team" is lame as far as endlessly-repeated sports cliches go, but I don't see how earning a $50k fine is the manly, leader-ly thing to do in this situation.

The no-call was not "so egregious." It was a toss-up. In case Chris Sheridan hasn't noticed, these teams play ugly, physical basketball, and some contact won't be called. LeBron got off a really bad shot and the refs didn't bail him out with an iffy call. That's all. Probably not worth "tak[ing] a $50k fine like a man" over.

ESPN.com - NBA - Philly-Motown: Waived Webber to sign with Pistons

Quoted: Pistons win sweepstakes, will sign Webber Tuesday

Not so sure this will feel like a "win" down the road. Especially if it opens the door for Marko Jaric to join our side. Ugh.

Hopefully it works out - it would be nice to see Webber resurrect his career and his image back home in Detroit.
