Very good article about the buildup to the fight.
Quoted: "I'm making this fight. When you watch '24/7' you can all say, 'This kid is cocky, this kid [is] arrogant.' Say what you want. But when you look at '24/7,' you see him playing with his dogs and drinking cappuccino and you say, 'We all do that, go back to that Mayweather. There's controversy and excitement with that kid Mayweather.'"

I hate to distract from sock-gate (seriously, I do) but Simmons had to weigh in on Mayweather - De La Hoya and the decline of boxing, so I had to dot it. May 5th can't come soon enough.
Quoted: We need to knock down the house and start over. And in the years following the De La Hoya-Mayweather fight, as boxing crumbles from a lack of mainstream interest, we will. Until then, let's enjoy the Last Big Fight. Call your buddy with the big TV and tell him you're coming over on May 5. Just like old times.

You must be Drew's friend before you can comment on this Fave. The quoted text is great ... never seen 24/7, but from what I've read he's the star of the show.
i don't know. the more i watch, the more i like mayweather. i hated him after the first 24/7, but he's definitely growing on me. i like de la hoya's trainer guy better -- the one with parkinson's-- than i like mayweather's pop and uncle. what was the last thing we saw, with both fighters answering the same questions? that made me like mayweather a lot. he was funny.
Roach is definitely the coolest trainer around. That was an ESPN interview we saw most recently. I think they are trying to hype this fight a lot - they seem to be trying to promote the fight game in general. Thank heavens they don't mess around with that UFC nonsense. That probably explains their interest in promoting boxing though. I saw something right after that interview about how people have been shoveling dirt on boxing's grave for 100 years but when you see two guys duking it out, there's really no reason to change the channel. Another good point made: pay-per-view should be special, not the norm. Saturday is going to be special.
I think I saw the same thing where they were asked the same questions. It was on ESPN ... I was surprised that either of them said "even".
