    Literature and Latte - Scrivener

If I ever start writing that science fiction novel I've been putting off, this program seems like an excellent choice for organizing the thoughts and getting to writing.

Are you serious about wanting to write something someday?

    • eric - Jan 10 2008

I am indeed. When I moved back to Seattle in 1998 it was because I was working on a science fiction novel, loved this city, and thought it would be a good way to plug in to an active writing network. Instead of that really happening, I ran out of money, worked three jobs, and then landed at Amazon. Voila!

I think that's really cool. You should make time for it.

    Bartas Technologies - CopyWrite

Quoted: CopyWrite is the award-winning project manager for writers of all kinds, brought to you by Bartas Technologies. CopyWrite is a project manager for writers of all kinds. Rather than focus on formatting and layout, CopyWrite stands apart in its project-oriented approach. Word processors and page layout tools are good at what they do - formatting and layout - but they offer no help at all to a writer during the creative process. In fact, the 'gee-whiz' features crammed into these tools do more to hinder writers, getting in the way of their work flow. Put simply, these tools constipate writers; CopyWrite is like a tasty bran muffin ... with extra bran.

Writing words vs. writing software - Signal vs. Noise (by 37signals)

A great 37signal blog post on the act of writing, both in the literary sense and in the software sense.

Quoted: Whether we’re authoring software or prose, rewriting is key. Rewriting is when you turn good into great. It’s true for books, blog posts, marketing copy, interfaces, code, etc. For all of them, we grind it out. We get something down, share it, get feedback, revise, and then do it over again. We get where we’re going via lots of wrong turns.

Literature and Latte - Scrivener Gold

Scrivener looks like an interesting writign application for Macintosh. It's currently under development but there is a freely testable beta.
