I discovered this designer through a Signal vs. Noise blog post which openly wondered whether the new imac designs were "borrowed" from Dieter Rams's design of the LE1 loudspeaker. Jonathan Ive, the lead designer at Apple has openly called Rams one of his influences.
This page on Dieter Rams at the Design Museum Collection is filled with interesting information about the products he designed and the time at which he worked. Good stuff.
