Yay!
Quoted: WASHINGTON—President-elect Barack Obama did very well among women and young voters, who were most sensitive to the current climate of everything being fucked.

You know those military analysts the networks trot out to tell you that we're making progress in the war on terror? Turns out that a number of them are briefed by the Pentagon and have financial interests tied to the war (investments in defense companies). Shocker.
Quoted: Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that has used those analysts in a campaign to generate favorable news coverage of the administration’s wartime performance, an examination by The New York Times has found.

Let's see here. Condie gets her jibes in at Muqtada al-Sadr by saying that he sends his fighters to die while sitting safely in Iran? That's what you tease him for?
How is that any different than what George W and Condoleezza Rice are doing? Last I checked, she wasn't doing any of the fighting personally.
Quoted: After long treating radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army militia gingerly, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice ridiculed him yesterday as a man who asks his followers to fight to the death while he resides in safety in Iran.

Wonderful. "Bring your daughter to war" day in Iraq. Love the Onion.
Quoted: Girls between the ages of 8 and 14 spent the day helping their parents fight insurgents and defuse mines.

Seymour Hersh's piece in "The New Yorker" regarding the government ramp-up to possible action in Iran. Scary stuff to think that this might be happening all over again before Bush leaves office.
Quoted: The Administration’s plan for Iran.

A truly wonderful speech Al Gore gave at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco prior to war being declared in Iraq. This is well worth reading and reacquainting yourself with if you want to remind yourself that there were at least a few people speaking sanely.
Quoted: I believe that we can effectively defend ourselves abroad and at home without dimming our core principles. Indeed, I believe that our success in defending ourselves depends precisely on not giving up what we stand for. We should have as our top priority preserving what America represents and stands for in the world and winning the war against terrorism first.
