Probably one of my favorite essays ever, and one of the most important essays ever written about modern English. I think it's pretty fascinating the Orwell wrote about the inherent political nature of language (both here, and, especially, in 1984) in the late 40s, but people basically disregarded it for 60 years. In my mind, George Lakoff's work with the concept of frames attempts to pick up where Orwell left off.
