Pistorius is a double amputee that may end up in the Olympics. While I empathize, I think this is a very slippery slope... How do we evaluate what constitutes resolving a handicap vs. what provides mechanical advantage across all sports and for all forms of disability?

Quoted: What's clear is that the seemingly politically correct replacement of "disabled" with "differently abled" is not only warranted but perhaps doesn't go far enough. How about "super abled" or "superbly abled"? Lengthen or add a bit more spring to those blades and Pistorius may win every race handily and take first in the high jump to boot.

Comment at Faves | View original page

<dc:subject>Oscar Pistorius,cyborg,Olympics,sports,running</dc:subject>

Mt. First of all, MapMyRun.com is really cool. I just went for a run through Maple Leaf and was able to plot it out quite easily. They also give you the option of sharing the run with people right on the site or keeping it private (as I chose to with this one). When you keep it private though, you still get a custom token so you can share the run with your friends (as I'm doing via Blue Dot).
