I watched this movie on the plane ride to Redding and thought it was absolutely breathtaking. It's definitely one of the best movies I have seen. A piece of real art brilliantly executed.

Ostensibly, the story is the recounting of a rape and murder as told by 4 people that participated in it. It's a fascinating study on subjectivity, the nature of truth, and living with the reality that certain events cannot be reconciled neatly.

The black and white imagery is beautifully realized and very lyrical. It is easy to see why this movie is considered a classic.

I loved it so much, I'm thinking about picking up this DVD to add to my film collection. The guy behind me liked it so much he sighed and told me that he was going to have to rent it when he got home.
