One of my long-shot, single-product, home-run-hopeful stocks presented their product at a conference today and indicated that it has some new benefits which had not been seen before. It may end up being useful in the treatment of diabetes!

I have, for me, a significant investment in Northfield Laboratories stock based on the strength of their Polyheme product they have been trying to bring to market. I listen to all the conference calls and believe that they have acted with high integrity on a medical trial that is just plain difficult to give (they need to use their product in trauma situations where the patients are unabel to give informed consent." That's why it sucks so badly when someone like 20/20 chooses to put out such a short-sighted and pandering piece of agitprop. Stories like the one by 20/20 have kept a life-saving technology out of the marketplace for an additional year in order to increase their ratings.
The good news? Northfield is almost done with their clinical trials at which time they can apply for FDA approval. Piss of journalists!

Whoot! NFLD is cruising...
Northfield Labs is a pet stock of mine which is working on a "hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrying resuscitative fluid." It's basically blood for trauma victims in the field. The best part is that it's universal (no blood typing), has a longer shelf life, and can be infused in large doses. This may change the face of trauma treatment.
