This guy is doing a 29-part series on "thinking like Warren Buffett." Based on the first one, I think he is just planning to excerpt short snippets out of each year of the annual report (as this first one started with the 1977 report). I think the uality of the first post is only so-so as the extracted lesson is "be consistent" but there is no real mention of why that works for Buffett, who happens to understand numbers and know how to value a company. I'd say "be consistent if you have an idea of what the hell you're doing."
Quoted: Meditations on money

Ajit Jain is considered to be a top-runner to replace Warren Buffett when he passes away. This is a great Bloomberg article on of the "guys behind the guy."
This is definitely one of the best snubs I have seen -
Quoted: ``It is undoubtedly the case that any disappointment I have caused you by declining the interview is far less than the disappointment I would have caused you by granting it.''

click to playIf you're a fan of Warren Buffett, you should really take some time to sit down and watch the 3 Charlie Rose specials recently done with him. You come away with a great sense of a man living with the highest integrity. You can also see how deeply the recent loss of his wife has wounded him. This is an amazing portrait of a great man, and they're free right now (hp has sponsored their availability. Get 'em while you can!)

Warren Buffett has decided to give the lion's share of his wealth (an estimated $31 billion) to the Gates foundation> Anyone familiar with Warren's investment philosophy will instantly see the prudence of giving to an organization whose scale can handle the disbursal of those astronomic funds. As a BRK shareholder, I am proud.
Quoted: Coming from you, this plan is pretty startling. Up to now you haven't been famous for giving away money. In fact, you've been roundly criticized now and then for not giving it away. So let's cut to the obvious question: Are you ill?

You have to scroll down more than half-way in the newsletter to see it but Chris Mayer has done a little write-up of this year's Berkshire Hathaway shareholders' meeting in Omaha.
Quoted: "What does Buffett, a long-time newspaper investor think? Buffett thinks the current woes are part of a longer-term trend that is not likely to reverse. And valuations on newspaper stocks don't reflect this."

A particularly good synapses of the world's greatest investor that appeared in the weekend edition of the Wall Street Journal. It's pretty great to read how a typical day at the Berkshire Hathaway office goes - take 13 phone calls from the managers of a few of your various businesses (one a wrong number) and call your broker to give advice on picking up a few hundred million dollars worth of a stock. Recommended reading.
