Looks like Amazon's new digital video download store may be the first of more download stores and that there may be hardware devices associated with each. I remember seeing a rumored Amazon video player and mp3 player. Now we have an e-book reader. This thing is utilitarian as hell and ugly but I'm guessing that just might be the test model? I'll hope...

Kindle's currently take up to 6 weeks from the time you placed your order (people receiving them today, ordered them around Feb 1).
Sounds like the Christmas backlog is soon to be cleared, and Amazon expects to begin shipping the same day as they are ordered.
