I'm down in Portland this weekend. When I come, I never miss a chance to check out Powell's Books, the best bookstore in the universe. Highly-recommended and the first major store to sell used copies of books right next to the new copies on the shelf (it's where Amazon.com got the idea to sell used copies on the same detail page). You absolutely cannot make a trip to Portland withour stopping at this cultural hub.

I really want to see this movie "Paradise Now," an exploration of the motivation behind suicide bombings. It sounds like it was a bit wild to make, with a crew member actually being briefly kidnapped.
