Quicksilver is the best mac application ever - and it's free. Even though I love it, I always feel like I'm using only a small percentage of its capabilities. This link is to a page with many video tutorials. I should be wizard at this in no time!

Scrivener looks like an interesting writign application for Macintosh. It's currently under development but there is a freely testable beta.
