A really excellent business interview with the CEO of Lego. There is lots of great information in here for people looking to build and run their own companies. It's a refreshingly clear look at revitalizing an innovative, privately-held brand while staying true to your roots, discovering who your customers really are, and servicing them to the best of your ability.

For those of you Mac fans out there, I used to use OpenOffice (which required you to do some pretty hectic installation of X11 developer tools (which are in a hidden directory on install disks)). When I updated X11 last week according for an Apple patch, everything broke and I could not use OpenOffice anymore. Thanks, Apple!
Here's the good news! Now you can just use NeoOffice which has ported OpenOffice for the Mac! No more maintaining the links between X11 and OpenOffice.

OpenOffice.org has a new set of ads targeted at Microsoft Office. They're putting them on Redmond buses...
Quoted: They're advertising OpenOffice, a free, open-source office software suite from Sun Microsystems. Other slogans include, "Stop giving a bully your lunch money", "Compatible with expensive, closed, memory loving software", and "Prehistoric reptilians welcome."

Chandler is in a pre-1.0 version for a networkable open-source calendaring service. Their hope is to one day challenge Outlook as a full workflow type of tool. I saw an interview with one of the chief guys and the thing that really caught my eye was that it was open source and that the group was working with a bunch of startups to develop a set of standards in the space. I hope we'll see a bunch of new services in this area as it is quite promising.

I’d guess pretty young (think Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.) living the red beans and rice lifestyle and working 80+ hours a week and sleeping under their desk. On some parts, I’m probably right — but on many, I’m flat-out wrong.
