Quoted: A video disclaimed to be “Google - Confidential” with the title “Nooglers And The PDB: Reactor (Ben Darnell, September 6, 2007)” made its way onto a public Google Video page. A “noogler” is what people at Google call new employees; “Reactor” is Google’s codename for the back-end to Google Reader, the video says, and someone posting under the nickname “Fanboy” in this blog’s forum provided us with a nutshell of the talk. While the video has been removed by now, others – including Ionut Alex. Chitu, who also blogged on this in the meantime – were able to see it, and I’ve also got hold of a copy.

An interesting question which is not fully-explored by the article. It's something I'd like to write mroe about in the future as I've always felt that the way I write at my job has indeed changed the way I write creatively, and usually not in ways that make my writing better.

Quoted: It sounds like a dream come true: wake up, kiss the wife and kids, and spend a productive day working from home on projects that you truly enjoy. Here at the Boswell household, that dream is coming true, slowly and surely. We're starting a major life change which includes quitting a decent job (with benefits!). Stupid, you say? Stupid like a fox! While this whole thing's still in process for us, this week I want to share a few things we've learned along the way - and perhaps you, too, can escape the cubicle.

For starters, his routine is merciless. Rain or shine, Woods sets out. More importantly, he always makes sure his practice sessions revolve around learning by doing. He analyzes sequential snapshots of himself playing, relentlessly scrutinizes the elements of his swing, then drills these subtle alterations into his nervous system through thousands of repetitions. Of course, more practice leads to more new ideas, which leads to more practice. "Other golfers may outplay me from time to time," Woods wrote in his book, "but they'll never outwork me."
