Beast is a free „magazine”. It WAS published, every month, (for one year long, 12 Issues) as a PDF file. No HTML, no Flash, no content, no sponsors, no banner, no ads. Main focus is on design, typography, art, illustration, photography, mind & matter and all kinds of creative exhausts.

Upnorth is Steve Green and Justin Kay. Currently based in New York City, once hailing from the bitter north of Wisconsin, Upnorth blends clean graphics and type which has been inspired by a rich history of skateboarding, Black Sabbath and the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers. Upnorth publishes the zine Oneonenine – www.oneonenine.org.

This week, FontShop takes a trip to the supermarket in search of palatable packaging. Among the shelves cluttered with superfluous drop shadows and chaotic typography, it was easy to spot the few beautiful boxes. These packages are proof that good type can make anything look delectable — even puffed corn or sugar water.

Is Not Take-away #1 is the first portable issue of Is Not Magazine. It is also the new, comprehensive type sampler from Underware, showing their fonts both in use and indexed.
