jigna | Shared With: Everyone - Mar 29 2006 | UW, seattle tourism, newsMy first time on the UW campus was last Monday, when we were promoting Blue.Us. My favorite part was, of course, seeing the cherry blossoms in the Quad. The campus is absolutely beautiful (Boston College still remains #1 for me :), especially for the west coast.

I found the Underground tour to be quite fascinating (maybe it's because I lived in Seattle for a few years before taking the tour) -- Seattle's history is full of crazy stories, most of them make amusing stories. The guides at the Underground tour are very talented, so don't stress about getting bored.
Having said that, the Underground Tour is not for everyone (I know some who had an unpleasant experience). Don't bother going if:
- you're allergic to dust
- you have no interest in the history of the cityQuoted: BILL SPEIDEL'S UNDERGROUND TOUR is a leisurely, guided walking tour beneath Seattle’s sidewalks and streets.
While you roam the subterranean passages that once were the main roadways and first-floor storefronts of old downtown Seattle, Tour Guides regale you with humorous stories our pioneers didn’t want you to hear. It’s history with a twist!ShareViewed: 9 Times

A great alternative to the Space Needle. Kerry Park (in Queen Anne) has a gorgeous view of the city and the bay. My favorite time to go is at sunset... best time to take pictures.
Highly recommended.
Quoted: An unsurpassed view of Elliott Bay and the Central City, with an occasional backdrop of Mount Rainier, draws camera buffs to this spot. At sunset they often line the wall just as the city and the sound are beginning to glow with lights. At night it becomes almost a fantasy scene, with brightly lit ferries gliding across the water and the Space Needle shining from its 500-foot pedestal.

The Fremont Troll is an odd, but fun little place to show off to out of towners. They get a big kick out of it!

If you're looking for another alternative to the Space Needle, I would recommend going to Highland Park in Queen Anne for some stunning views of the city and the Puget Sound.
