The Seattle Times: Business & Technology: Employers impose forced relaxation

    Very interesting read.

Quoted: To discourage such behavior, the accounting giant shuts down its U.S. operations between Christmas and New Year's, giving virtually all employees the time off with pay. Friedman calls the hiatus "fantastic. No one's on e-mail, there are no phone calls, no nothing."

    This memorial destined for oblivion

These sculptures made of salt are on display in Occidental Park (right outside the BD office). Go see them before it starts raining!

Quoted: Titled "Lot's Tribe," the figures are intended as memorials for the "post- 9/11 world," Magrath said. They're based on Associated Press photos he saw on the Internet from the Iraq war: A squatting young boy with his hands tied behind him, wearing a blindfold; a father rushing forward, holding the body of his lifeless son; and a sitting figure whose face is contorted with sorrow, a witness at a tragedy.

Seattle Parks and Recreation: Cal Anderson Park

Finally went to check out this park in Capitol Hill over the weekend. It was reconstructed recently and it looks really good now. I was surprised to see that they were very child-friendly (didn't expect it to be because of its location). As expected, they are pet friendly too.

    Highly recommended.

Quoted: Lincoln Reservoir was constructed following the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. It was put in use in 1901 and it is currently being reconstructed.
