One hundred eighty-five celebrated designers and artists levered the idea or form of the tree to make a powerful visual statement in banners displayed throughout Times Square.</p><p>“The tree is metaphor for sustainability, and in that spirit the banners from the exhibition are being recycled into totebags designed exclusively for the project by Jack Spade. Even on Cape Cod where the plants are native, beach plum condiments are gourmet, says Tom Whitlow, associate professor of horticulture and head of the Cornell Beach Plum Project.
