The team Chris H. and I are advising made it to the next round of UW business school's competition. The event was superb!

Quoted: While there appeared to be fewer Internet startups this year, Spottage was certainly trying to get the message out. The founders -- dressed in T-shirts with the company logo -- actively approached investors in hopes of explaining how their online apartment finding service worked.

Darrick Morrison, a 23-year-old UW senior, explained Spottage as a map-based online apartment finding service for college students. In addition to online advertising, the company plans to make money every time a landlord successfully signs up a tenant through the site. On a property of $1,500 or less, the landlord would pay $215 to Spottage. Spottage then plans to pass $50 of that on to the tenants.

"We are bringing eyeballs to apartment listings," said Morrison, who in the next two weeks plans an elaborate marketing campaign that includes hidden plastic balls -- bearing prizes -- on the UW campus. "We want to scale this as big as we can," he said.

    Spoken like a true entrepreneur..

Getting ready for Seattle Mind Camp - The Philosophical Guide | Seattle Mind Camp

    philosphical guide to mind camp

Quoted: Most of you who have previously attended Seattle Mind Camp understand the free-form nature of the beast. However, many of you will be joining us for the first time, and I wanted to try to prepare you for the kind of event you’re going to encounter. Mind Camp is not a traditional type of gathering, and the success of the event depends in large part on the willingness of the participants to wrestle the chaotic mess into order.
