What is wrong with our judicial system? 10 years in prison and parenting classes?! That's laughable... it's hard to accept that our society would really allow this woman to parent a child ever again.
Quoted: A federal appeals court threw out the 10-year prison sentence of a woman who rented her 9-year-old daughter to a pedophile more than 200 times, saying the punishment was too lenient.

I think its sad they were convicted again. The entire case just seems bizarre...
I also find it interesting that the doctor and nurses can escape their death sentence if they can come up with 10 million dollars each...

I was surprised to hear that American Apparel was being sold, but even more surprised to read about its founder Dov Charney.
"Mr. Charney has gained a reputation as the Hugh Hefner of retailing, decorating his stores with covers of Penthouse magazine and admitting in interviews to sleeping with employees. In lawsuits filed in 2005, several employees charged him with creating a work environment in which women did not feel safe."

Quoted: Historians in Continental Europe followed suit and came up with findings that yielded the same surprising result: that murder was much more common in the Middle Ages than it is now and that it dropped precipitately in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Something very important changed in Western behavior and attitudes, and it stood much prevailing social theory on its head.

Quoted: The selection of Pamuk, whose recent trial for ''insulting Turkishness'' raised concerns about free speech in Turkey, continues a trend among Nobel judges of picking writers in conflict with their own governments. British playwright Harold Pinter, a strong opponent of his country's involvement in the Iraq war, won last year. Elfriede Jelinek, a longtime critic of Austria's conservative politicians and social class, was the 2004 winner.
