Ruh ro... this shit is good. I didn't even know they were coming out with a new album. Listening to it now, and it's making me happy. Old Roots style flow, a lot of noise, and use of some very subtle electronic sounds and not so subtle distortions / effects. The songs on this album have more layers than previous albums. It certainly is a display of their graduate status. In short, it works and I likes... if it were a lollipop, I'd lick it.

It's a Common kind of day. Listening to this right now... I think after work I'm going to get lazy in the sun with this album...and maybe with one of those, oh so ghey* drinks Jesse likes :)

Someday My Prince Will Come: Music: Miles Davis

I heard a song from this album on NPR today and I realized it's just been too long since I listened to the album in its entirety. It is one of my favorites. It's downtempo and romantic. Perfect with a glass of wine and good company.

    Matador Records | Cat Power

I'm a big Cat Power fan... and have heard that Chan Marshall has up and gone sober. Apparently, it's made her live performances... happy and lively. I can't imagine any of her songs being sung while 'happy'.

    Rilo Kiley

I'm listening to this now and I'm finding it strangely addictive. I must say as a whole it's a damn good album. Each song is distinctly different, but still good. It makes me wish I was wearing a cute Empire dress that I picked up from the thriftstore with knee high boy socks...and I had a Budweiser in my hand at a local smokey pub with my angsty pals.

    Yeah, what Sung said. Amazing!

Sung said :these guys were one of the opening acts for blackalicious yesterday at the showbox. amazingly i thought they were better then blackalicious. mainly cause of their stage presence - the way they worked the crowd was amazing + it's always great when artists aren't singing about tits & ass.

    lifesavas - check them out.
FYI - track #11 Resist is amazing - especially live.
