Well, it's not built to be an instrument but actually to resemble one. It's still an incredibly beautiful pedestrian bridge.
Quoted: As we understand more and more about the materials to build suspension bridges, their shapes are going to become more bizarre and seemingly impossible. Architect Santiago Calatrava made this suspension bridge in Jerusalem to resemble the shape of a lyre, a stringed instrument popular during classical antiquity.

I didn't know that Ollie was still alive or in Sequim but I do know that we enjoy his work almost daily in this household. RIP Ollie.
Quoted: Ollie Johnston, the last of the "Nine Old Men" who animated "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Fantasia," "Bambi" and other classic Walt Disney films, died Monday. He was 95.
Johnston died of natural causes at a long-term care facility in Sequim, Washington, Walt Disney Studios Vice President Howard Green said Tuesday. ...
Johnston's other credits included "Cinderella," "Alice in Wonderland," "Peter Pan," "Lady and the Tramp," "Sleeping Beauty," "101 Dalmatians," "Mary Poppins," "The Jungle Book," "The Aristocats," "Robin Hood" and "The Rescuers."

Cool (the story and the "art").
Quoted: In December, graffiti writers AUGER and REVOK modified a billboard advertising the wonderful Takashi Murakami exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. Two days later, the billboard was removed. The LA Weekly now reports that Murakami himself saw online photos of the graffitied billboard and thought it to be "so wonderful, he had to have it for his collection," according to his representatives. So apparently he had it taken down and shipped to his studio in Japan.

This sounds fascinating. It seems like it would fit nicely at the EMP. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if it comes to town.
Quoted: Armed with fliers, British artist Phil Collins roamed through clubs, pubs and discos seeking fans of the influential 1980s rock band The Smiths.
The result is a three-part video project featuring people from three cities _ Bogota, Colombia; Istanbul, Turkey; and Jakarta, Indonesia _ singing to karaoke tracks from the British band's 1987 album "The World Won't Listen."

Does it bother anyone else that a pair of western lowland gorillas are named Little Joe and Okie? Part of what I like about the Woodland Park Zoo is that they give region-appropriate names to their animals for the most part.
Quoted: BOSTON -- In an online world where almost anything can be found for sale, a gorilla's paintings are now up for bid on eBay. Tuesday, September 11, 2007.
