I just found out about this nonprofit that's right here in Seattle. I'm not crazy about the name, but it looks like their doing some great things to make a difference in the lives of young local girls.

This is Burton's nonprofit agency geared towards getting at-risk youth on the mountain for a positive recreational experience. It sounds a lot like the Snowboard Outreach Society and The Service Board, but I actually have never met anyone who's had a hand in either coordinating, volunteering, or participating in their program...

I'm going to try to go to this, if I can get the Friday off. Dolls, what do you think?

So the BOEC is a supercool organization that works mainly with people with physically and cognitive disabiltiies --- getting them into the outdoors, including activities like skiing, snowboarding, rafting, cycling, climbing, camping, etc etc etc. It's all about empowerment, and it is one of the most inspiring environments I've had the pleasure of participating in. Anyone moving to Breck, I highly recommend getting involved with these guys!
